ACL Reconstruction
ACL Reconstruction
Dr. Petty has extensive experience performing ACL reconstructions for athletes at every level, including NFL and NBA players. It is his favorite procedure. His surgical approach is grounded in both his own research and the highest-quality published literature, utilizing the most reliable and advanced techniques available, with a consistent emphasis on precision, durability, and long-term athletic performance.
Precise graft placement is the cornerstone of a successful ACL reconstruction and is the primary focus of Dr. Petty’s surgical philosophy. Optimal placement, careful graft selection and secure fixation are critical to achieving long-term stability and performance. Equally important is the ability to accurately diagnose and repair associated meniscal injuries, which play a vital role in knee function, comfort, and durability over time.
Dr. Petty has exceptional expertise in meniscal repair and, whenever appropriate, enhances these repairs with biologic augmentation such as bone marrow–derived stem cells (BMAC) or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to support healing and recovery.
He also performs a high volume of revision ACL reconstructions. In these complex cases, Dr. Petty frequently augments the revision procedure with an anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction. This combined approach has demonstrated excellent outcomes and durability, particularly for athletes returning to high-level sport.
